Recipes are a fantastic way to not only manage your health, but to save money as well.

Whether they have been handed down in your family, you keep your eyes glued to your favorite cooking show, or you follow a really trendy blog, recipes are a sure way to make sure you know what you are putting in your food.

According to research from Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman M.D.(www.drfuhrman.com), 62% of food consumed in the United States is refined and processed.

Processed foods are linked to not only weight gain, but to health complications as well. The rich nutrition has been stripped, and then replaced by un natural chemical products to give food a longer shelf life, produce a larger quantity, and many other reasons.

When you prepare your own meals, you have the ability to choose natural, and healthy foods to feed you and your family.

Rule of thumb: When you pick up an item, turn it over and read the ingredient list. If it contains more than 5 ingredients where you can't pronounce the name, don't eat it!
